Quote Wednesday: Summer Edition

Hello my fellow little munchkins. How are you all doing? I am doing well. I have seven very cute and summer-is quotes for you all since it is summer and I really do hope you all enjoy them. Have any of you watched the Great British Baking Show? I think that is what it is called. It is on in my hotel room at the moment.

Anyways, why don’t we get into the post?

QUOTE WEDNESDAY

  1. “The animal merely makes a bed, which he warms with his body in a sheltered place; but man, having discovered fire, boxes up some air in a spacious apartment, and warms that, instead of robbing himself, makes that his bed, in which he can move about divested of more cumbrous clothing, maintain a kind of summer in the midst of winter, and by means of windows even admit the light and with a lamp lengthen out the day.”

― Henry David Thoreau

2. “Why is summer mist romantic and autumn mist just sad?”

― Dodie Smith, I Capture the Castle

3. “Summer was here again. Summer, summer, summer. I loved and hated summers. Summers had a logic all their own and they always brought something out in me. Summer was supposed to be about freedom and youth and no school and possibilities and adventure and exploration. Summer was a book of hope. That’s why I loved and hated summers. Because they made me want to believe.”

― Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe

4. “Ô, Sunlight! The most precious gold to be found on Earth.”

― Roman Payne

5.“My room was in one of those turrets and at night I could hear the sea and the faint rustle of eelgrass in the soft wind. The weather was perfect that summer. No storms. Blue skies and just the right amount of wind every day. The sailors were in heaven.”
― Katherine Hall Page

6.“i’ve been holding you
in heavy sighs

and i don’t know if it is
a good thing.
but there is so much

more
to this weight that keeps me
together. keeps me warm

like summer

strolling in
late

but at last.”

― Vinati Bhola, Udaari

7.“Lightning’s echo comes as thunder. And the city waits for thunder’s echo, for a wall of heat that burns Lahore with the energy of a thousand summers, a million partitions, a billion atomic souls split in half.”

― Mohsin Hamid, Moth Smoke
