The Beast of Black Pond by Nancy Grace

Hello my fellow little munchkins. How are you all doing? I am doing well. I am officially in the middle of the first week of school of this year coming back from winter break. I have surprisingly done extremely well with the amount I have posted since the middle of last month and I hope and by hope I mean hope to stay on track with this type of blog posting schedule.

Anyways, why don’t we get into the review?

The Beast of Black PondThe Beast of Black Pond
by Nancy Gray
Genre: Horror
Age category: Middle Grade
Release Date: 15 October 2018

Blurb:
“Mrs. Snider,” Duane asked. “Do you know anything about Black Pond?”
“There isn’t some monster drowning children. It’s a dangerous, polluted pond,” she said.

But there is a monster that lurks silently in the water, watching and waiting; hungry for its next meal. Duane has seen THE BEAST OF BLACK POND, and the beast has his scent. The beast hunts him from the pond, to the lake by the dam, even to his own swimming pool. Duane will need all his wits, and the help of his friends if he wants to avoid being pulled under to a watery grave.

Review:

The characters were wonderfully developed on and gratefully they all had their own personalities however while reading this book their mannerisms almost felt similar in a way.

The pacing was good, not stellar but not terrible. It was able to install a little terror within me for a horror book but not enough to scare me like a SAW movie. To go off of that the whole horror element wasn’t the scariest for me especially due to reading a few horror novels that were able to scare me for the night. The description was perfect due to how it wasn’t too much but it wasn’t just dialogue. There was a lot of action though throughout the whole book which I was pleased about.

This wasn’t a favorite book of mine from the author but it was definitely enjoyable and a good book to start of the year.

3/5 stars
